At our last Bestie Boudie Retreat, our very own Janie held body casting workshops to create art with our wonderful bodies. But, it turned out to be much more than creating art. It became:
🩷 An exercise for consent, allowing others to reclaim power and decide who is able to touch your body to put the castings on
🩷 It challenged the way you saw your body and made you see it differently
🩷 It was another element of being nude and vulnerable without being sexual
What was initially meant to be for fun and art (and it still is!), turned out to be healing, challenging and transformative for everyone that joined in.
And now, due to popular demand, we will be turning them into workshops at our very own Crooked Images studio in East Perth!

Introduction to Body Castings and Consent Workshop
Discuss and explore non-sexualised consent in a safe space, by allowing another person to touch your body to apply the plaster bandage
Be introduced to the therapeutic and ancient art of body casting which can be a healing and ceremonial way of connecting to the body
Learn about the Body Neutrality Movement and how you can be compassionate to your body not only during this workshop but in everyday life
During this workshop you will have enough time to learn how to cast the following: Boobs, Butts, Vulva or Squishy side rolls. This workshop is not long enough for a full torso, pregnancy belly or detailed areas such as hands or face
Have your own cast mold of your body part to take home with you to treasure as is or use to turn into your own piece of art
The option to purchase an add-on for Janie to turn your casting into a finished casted piece of artwork

This is an LGBTQIA+ event and a welcoming space for all that attend. This workshop has been created for us to gather, share, celebrate and explore our connections to our bodies.

Janie is now offering one on one body casting sessions at the Studio to create art with our wonderful bodies. Here’s what you can expect from your One on One Body Casting session:
🩷 Prior to your castings session, Janie will touch base and go over all the options available for your cast & provide you with a final quote based on what you have requested.
🩷 As an avid coffee and wine lover, Janie will offer you a beverage of your choice on arrival, then sit down with you and have a chat about what you are looking for exactly from your body castings session.
🩷 As Janie is hella passionate about enthusiastic consent, during your casting sessions she will encourage you to use your voice to practice what consent around your body looks like for you. With this exercise in consent, it allows you to reclaim power and decide who is able to touch your body and when.
🩷 The art of body casting is a beautiful way to challenge your own body image. Janie advocates for the body neutrality movement and during your casting session it can challenge the way you see your body and make you see it differently. Janie is able to hold a safe space for this experience.
🩷 After your casting session, Janie will take your mold and turn it into a timeless piece of artwork that you can display in your home and one day you can show your grandkids how badass their Granny is.
Standard wait time for your finished product from your casting session to completed piece is 4 weeks.

“-An Awesome Experience at the Body Castings and Consent Workshop-
I attended a body casting and consent workshop hosted by Crooked Images and Janie in Feb. I have to say, it was an incredible experience! Janie and the Crooked Team are super friendly and made everyone feel comfortable right from the start. It all started off with a conversation on enthusiastic consent and communication, which is a really special moment and made everyone feel safe.
After a brief introduction to the materials and process, we got real messy. The atmosphere was relaxed and supportive, with a lot of laughs and encouragement all around. The actual casting process was super easy. Janie guided us through each step, ensuring we understood what we were doing and how to get the best results. (Note extra moisturiser on body hair, or you'll likely get a wax).
One of the best parts was seeing everyone's finished pieces. It was fascinating to see how different and personal each cast turned out. We all left with a unique and beautiful piece of art that we created ourselves, along with some great memories and a newfound appreciation for the art of body casting and our bodies.
If you're looking for a fun, empowering, creative, and slightly out-of-the-ordinary experience, I highly recommend trying this Body Castings and Consent Workshop. It's a fantastic way to spend a few hours, meet some new people, and walk away with something truly special.”
