This is Jade she has faced body insecurity and struggles with self-acceptance from a young age. As a child, Jade was tall and skinny, often receiving comments about being “bony.” While kids were probably just joking, these comments stuck with her, and she felt like she didn’t belong.
As a teenager, Jade tried to work out and put on muscle, but she still felt lanky and out of place. This struggle led her to develop an unhealthy relationship with food, and despite wanting to gain weight, she found herself battling anorexia. It wasn’t until a dear friend helped her out of that dark place that Jade began to heal. However, her relationship with food and body image continued to fluctuate, leaving her constantly insecure about her body size and height.
After a break-up, Jade found herself at her heaviest weight yet, which for a time, felt amazing. She had a healthy relationship with food and was learning to embrace her height and body. But after the emotional turmoil of the break-up, her relationship with food slipped again, and she lost all of the progress she had made.
During our model call chat Jade said she is committed to loving herself and cultivating a positive relationship with her mind, body, and food. She came to us for a photoshoot as a way to visually represent her growth reminding herself that yes, she’s tall and "lanky", but she’s also strong, beautiful, and deserving of self-love.
For Jade, this shoot is a step toward building confidence and embracing her body for what it is, flaws and all. “Always feeling awkward is in the head,” Jade says. “Having a visual to disprove those thoughts would have a big impact on my confidence and my journey to a healthier mindset and relationship with food.”
