This is Carrie a woman with a body that’s both a source of strength and a battleground. Carrie’s body journey is one of contrast, with days of loving her body and feeling its power, and other days where that connection feels like a distant dream.
Her biggest challenge is the disconnect between her mind and body, where the same brain that lifts heavy things and helps others also struggles with trusting her body when things feel a bit scary or unfamiliar. Carrie told us, “I love every body I see and can always find something positive and inspiring about everyone else, but struggle to do the same for myself.”
Despite the challenges, Carrie’s been brave enough to step into the spotlight in other ways, like doing a group nood shoot, which felt like a breeze. But when the attention was solely on her, feeling her body and moving in ways she’s not used to was her biggest hurdle. Carrie joined us during our 2024 Model Call with a goal: to speak to herself the way she would speak to a friend, with kindness, positivity, and pure acceptance. And that’s exactly what she got.
Her photoshoot was a transformative experience, physically and mentally. “It was a workout of a shoot, but I loved that! Mentally, I felt fantastic,” Carrie says. With Priscila’s amazing direction, Carrie felt empowered to voice her wants and needs without fear of judgement, which is something she’s never really experienced before.
The moment of validation came during her photo viewing, when Carrie didn’t critique herself the way she usually does. Instead, she saw herself with pride and acceptance, and the voice of self-doubt was silenced.
Her chosen tattoo? The flower head huggy girl – “I chose it because it was the coolest looking one on the sheet,” she said, but we can see it as a symbol of how she’s embracing all parts of herself, with no apologies. Carrie’s journey is a beautiful reminder that we all deserve to feel pride in our bodies, no matter the battles we face.
Thank you, Carrie, for trusting us with your incredible story and for showing up with such courage.
